Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

I'm an Iranian passport holder currently living in Germany on a resident card for last 4 years (but hold Iranian Passport/Citizenship). I came to USA in August where I met my fiancee (and future husband), and we have been living together since my arrival.

My husband to be is a naturalized US citizen.

What is the best course of action for us to follow, so that I can live with him here. Get married while I am here so I can continue with my education or go back to Germany and have him sponsor me.

How much time it would take in the best case scenario, and the cost involved with the paperwork.

If possible, I would like to be with him the soonest so I can start making my family. Also, at present I can with relative ease obtain a job at the University I am attending, and that would help both of us financially. Thanks.

If you are in the US legally, and currently hold a valid, non-expired visa, you can get married and apply for change / adjustment of your status to a permanent resident.

Being in the US legally with a current visa, the two of you can marry and apply for permanent residency.
