Legal Question in Immigration Law in California
Can I get a K1 visa?
Hello,
I am planning on marrying my boyfriend whom I dated for 4 years, we broke up once and he filed a restraining order against me but now we are back together and the restraining order is long gone. However I want to do everything legal and enter the US on a K1 visa so we can get married. Will I get that even though I have been previously giving a restraining order (from him)?

while the restraining order will not necessarily in and of itself cause your case to be denied, they will more than likely question you about it. the primary issue usually is whether or not it is a legitimate relationship. Feel free to contact my office for an appointment. the intial consultation fee is just $80.

It should be fine.
You may find comprehensive information on the K-1 fiancee visa process here:

I cannot answer this question without more information. The CIS and Consul will want to have specifics about any conviction you have. They are also concerned with not just the alien's but also the U.S. petitioner's criminal record for the K-1 visa. There are some technical issues that can be to your benefit. If you're interested in having me take a closer look, I'd be happy to do that.
