Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

Living situation

Hi I am a us citizen and plan on marrying my boyfriend of 6 years who came here on a student visa which expired 2 years ago. Since I work in NY and he works in Michigan we do not get to see eachother that often(only on weekends). I was wondering if the Immigration Service is going to check if we live together and if we could get in trouble.

The fact that you are living together may raise a red flag. If the separation is temporary and can be explained, then it should be okay. However, given the circumstances, I do recommend that you retain an attorney to assist you in this matter. The assessment of whether a marriage is legitimate includes an interview, which can become intrusive.
