How long can a green card holder stay outside USA?

If you stay outside the U.S. for 6 months to a year, there will be a rebuttable presumption that you abandoned your green card. You will have to overcome that presumption by showing you had no intention of abandoning your green card status. If you need to stay outside of the U.S. for longer than a year, you should apply for a reentry permit before departing the U.S. Please feel free to contact me to discuss this matter further.
