Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

MARRIAGE to lawful permanenet resident

Hello, if I am visiting the USA as a tourist and during that time marry my fiance who is a lawful permanent resident, can I apply to change my status immediately after we marry so that I can stay here with them full-time and not have to leave and wait years for a visa?

what are the requirements for this?

Thank you for your help

Re: MARRIAGE to lawful permanenet resident

No. Not that easy. The fiance has to be a US citizen.

Marriage to a permanent resident will put the alien on a waiting list currently of at least 5 years before he or she can adjust status.
