Legal Question in Immigration Law in California
Wish to marry Filipino national
I am engaged to a lady from the Philippines who was previously married. They don't recognize divorce in the Philippines, but their embassy web site said if a woman married in the Philippines was in the U.S. and married an American, he could then file for divorce for her. Is this legal? Could I marry this person here under any circumstances and apply for her permanent residency? I'm trying to find the best way that we can remain together in the U.S. Thank you for any help you can give.

If you marry a person who is already married and not yet divorced, that's bigamy and the marriage is not valid. I think the information on the website may be misinterpret by you.
