Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

I am marrying an illegal immigrant. He was caught crossing the Mexican border and detained. He was let go because of his testimony, So, he was not deported, but released in T.J., Mexico. If we are to get married in his home country, does he have any chance to get a visa or green card in the future???

Previous deportation is a ground for inadmissibility. We suggest you to consult with an immigration attorney.
