Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

my options? amnisty or life act?:

let me explain my situation, my mother tried to apply for amnisty in 87', she was turned away without applying for herself or me, in 1990 she applied for late amnisty( lulac) i believe, which she was granted.

I apart from her applied for family unity benefits under my father who had become a permanent resident i was 17 at the time and was granted family unity benefits, my mistake was since i had been living in the us since summer-1980, i consider myself a us citizen even though i am legally not, i have a social security, and have used this for employment, my problem is that time has passed and i have been very slow at doing anything, for whatever reason, now i would like to legalize my situation at close to 30 years of age, since i cannot travel abroad and immigration laws become more rigid, please advise me at to what are my options as of dec-29-2003.

You have many options specifically cancellation of removal..which results into permanent residency if approved.

It sounds like you may have been granted permanent residence under family unity benefits through your father. However, if not, it's possible that the LIFE Act would be the best bet for you now. The only problem is I believe the application period expired a few months ago, unless there was a grace provision for some people.

I think the best thing for you is to obtain a consultation with an immigration lawyer like myself in the office so that I can see what current status you have.
