Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

My parents are citizens, am I?

I am from Afghanistan, my parents became U.S. citizens before I turned 18. I have lived in the U.S. for 24 years and I do have a green card. Does this automatically make me a citizen? What do I have to do? I wish to travel to Europe so I need a passport.

Does having a misdemeanor on your record mean you can not obtain citizenship? I do have one (after my parents became citizens). I was on probation for 3 years beginning in 1994. I would like to know if I can do this without going through the usual process. Please give me any information you can. I appreciate your help.
