If I'm a permanent green card holder can I study abroad and still keep my green card?

If you are outside the U.S. for more than 6 months, you must obtain a Re-Entry permit. This will allow you to be outside the U.S. for 2 yrs & still retain your greencard. However, you must return to the U.S. before the Re-Entry permit expires.
