Is a person aloud to work in the US if there Visa is expired

Unfortunately, if your H-1B (or other visa giving you work authorization in the United States) is expired, and if you have not already filed for an extension, then you are considered out of status and also cannot work. But more importantly, if this is the case, you are accruing illegal presence as well.
