Briefly, if you are married to a U.S. citizen, are or have been abused by that spouse, and can prove extreme hardship if you return to your home country, then you may qualify for a "greencard" under Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). However, VAWA applies to both battered male or female spouses (and children under the age of 25 who meet certain criteria).

If you have been the victim of domestic violence you may have some options. You should set a confidential consultation to determine what your options may be.

A victim of domestic violence has many options under either a U visa or VAWA. You should have an experienced attorney review your options with you.
