As a petitional of intending immigrant, do i need (must) to file the I-864, affidavit of support (financial support)?

Hello:
Yes, you do have to file this I-864. You must meet a minimum income requirement in order to sponsor an intending immigrant. This will depend on the number of dependents you may have, as well as on the number of any previous immigrants you have sponsored. If you do not meet the minimum income requirement, you may find a co-sponsor to help you to qualify. They will have to fill out paperwork as well and provide their income tax return.

The petitioner for a family based petitioner, or business petitioner if the person has more than a 5% ownership interest, must file the I-864 Affidavit of Support. Occasionally, additional sponsors are required.
