Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

petty theft and naturalization

I have 2 petty theft convictions from 1989 and 1991. I requested expungement 6 years ago which was granted. My record has been clean since 1991. I have a green card and would like to apply for citizenship. I would appreciate your legal advice on this matter and what I need to do.

Thank you.

Even if you have received expungement ..those stay in your records for immigration. You should consult an attorney before you file for citizenship.

I agree with Attorney Ghosh. You should consult someone immediately, because there are other things you can provide which can help your character determination. If you would like help, please let me know.

Yes, you can go ahead and apply but I would prepare plenty of good moral character evidence (along with all necessary supporting documents) to supplement your application.

Please feel free to contact me should you require formal assistance on this matter.
