Legal Question in Immigration Law in California
how to plead not guilty
how to plead not guilty for a grand theft fellony charge, my first and only one, it is so crucial that i do not get convicted , i'm a green card holder and having a conviction like that might ruin my chances for citizenship forever, however i have my permenant green card that won't expire for the coming 9 yrs.and also can i be deported if the conviction is a misdemeanor?i'm married to a us citizen i have a one year old child, i can't forgive myself to this stupid mistake that i've done. i need another chance to save my family and be there for my child ...i am hugely ashamed and embarrased from what i've done, i guess i was going through post partum deppression my husband got furlaughed and i had to quit working so i can take care of my baby...i'm not justifying myself here, just mentioning my motive, i don't even want to imagine what could happen if i get deported.... is there a time or a probation period granted by the immigration to such cases that allowes us to establish good manner character, through work or community service..etc?

Re: how to plead not guilty
The conviction of such offense might have the consequences of deportation, exclusion from admission to the US, or denial of naturalization since you are just a green card holder.
