Legal Question in Immigration Law in California
Do I Qualify for a Work Visa?
Hi
I am 19 years old, I hold both a British and a Swiss passport and I am trying to get a permit to work as a model and/or actress in the USA.
I am no award-winning movie star or model, but I have 2 modeling agencies and 1 acting agency who want to represent me.
Ideally I would like to be able to work as both however it seems that I have to start off as either a model or an actress and then get a dual visa.
The acting agency who wants to take me on doesnt sponsor people as a matter of policy (although I'm sure they wouldnt mind writing a letter or two), the modeling agencies however may be willing to sponsor me.
My main question is... am I wasting my time- I dont have any newspaper articles about me, awards etc etc. I met with an attorney some months back who seemed to think I was, but I know that people who aren't Oscar Winners get visas so I'm certain that there must be a way...Or am I living in a dreamland?!?!
If things may be hopeful, is anyone willing to take me on as a client?
Thank you!

Re: Do I Qualify for a Work Visa?
I have successfully represented about one dozen models for Playboy and none of them were Oscar winners.
If you have any experience with a portfolio, nationally - doesn't have to be internationally, then you have a chance.

Good luck,
