Legal Question in Immigration Law in California
I just received a DUI, as i was in the midst of filing for citizenship. I know this cancels my chances for citizenship. My question is, how does this effect renewing my green card?

Many times a DUI does not cancel your chance for citizenship. It is not a per se ground of ineligibility under INA 101(f) meaning that you can counter the negative equity of the DUI with positive equities. We've seen this work in certain cases where the applicant is otherwise a very conscientious and community driven individual. As for renewing your card, the government must do that as you have not lost your LPR status.
