Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

Reversing a legal adoption

I'm from the Philippines and my aunt legally adopted me so that she can bring me here. I recently became a US Citizen and I'm over 21 years old. I want to petition my birth parents but per immigration rules, once a person has been legally adopted, he can't petition his birth parents, is there any way around this. Is there any way I can reverse my adoption since I'm over 21?

Re: Reversing a legal adoption

Reversing the adoption may raise significant issues about your citizenship status and underlying green card. Your eligibility for both was a result of the adoption. Had it not been for your adoptive parents you would not have the status you now have. If the adoption was merely used to bypass immigration laws, and now that your means have been achieved you wish to reverse the adoption, then your green card and subsequent citizenship may be revoked once the adoption is reversed and you apply for your birth parents' green cards.

Reversing? Sure, if you want your green card revoked and you deported.
