Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

Speeding Warrants

My husband received some speeding tickets some years ago. He never finished paying them off because his drivers license was suspended and we fear they have become warrants for his arrest. At the time he never thought he would have the oppurtunity to become a legal resident but now we are married and I need him for the sake of our family to apply for legal residency. How will this affect his chances to become a legal resident in this country. He is willing to do what it takes to fix this situation.

Where do we begin? What are our options?

Thank you,

Re: Speeding Warrants

Assuming that you are a U.S. citizen, your husband could still be barred from adjusting status if he can not prove lawful legal entry. Your husband may have to rely on "Cancellation of Removal" as the relief of last resort.

Cancellation of removal allows an out of status person to obtain lawful residency by providing evidence of "extreme and unusual hardship" to a U.S. citizen immediate family member in case of removal.

It is a complicated legal procedure that you should consult with a lawyer for detailed explanation.
