Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

Traveling with approved H1B in J1 Status

What happens if the USCIS has approved a person's status and petition with a future start date (H1B, 10.01.2007) and, thereafter, the person travels outside of the United States, reentering in the present (unchanged) status (J1, visa expires 12.01.2007) prior to the future start date?''

That would be fine. If you are going to your home country you should get your passport stamped with the H1b visa as well.
