Legal Question in Immigration Law in California
Urgent Please Advise. I have a freind who introduced me to a young mother from Indonishia who is going thru a divorce and child custody is being denied to her because she cannot defend herself legally from her husband. She needs a place to stay and was willing to work part time in exchange for room and board. However I wanted to do a background check before I have her move in and found I could not because she does'nt have a social security and was in the process of becoming legal as the wife of an american citizen. She claims to have permanent residency but I don't understand how. I very much want to help her she has been thru so much and wants to stay here desperately to be near her 7year old son which her husband is making very hard for her to see and he constantly treatens to deport her in front of her son. This is heart breaking but I want to make sure I am not breaking any laws.

There may be an option for her to become legal although she is separated from her husband. Please have her contact me at 904-576-2581 or email me at [email protected].
If she says she has a green card ask her to give you a copy. Also, if she has a green card she should apply for a social security number which is a rather simple process. As for her legal needs about custody and divorce, she should see a family lawyer. I can help her in both areas.
