Legal Question in Immigration Law in California
Hello,
I had been to USA for a while on L1B visa, during this time, I got my SSN(Valid for work with DHS Autorization). I had left the company who sponsered L1B for me( which by default according to me had made my L1B Visa invalid). Now am planning to obtain a H4 Visa to join my spouse (who is H1B) .I have the following questions for H4 Visa with SSN along
1) Can I work in usa?
2) What all are the formalities do I need to fulfill for the same?
3) If this does not work out, what could be an alternate solution for work permit for H4 with SSN?
Would appreciate your quick turnaround in this regard.
Thanks,
MJ

No, you could not work in the United States as a resident spouse with an H-4 visa.
There is no alternate solution as far as I am aware that would allow such a person with only an H-4 visa but also a SSN to be employed in the United States.
You, of course, could seek to become an H-1B visa holder and if successful could then work for this particular employer who was sponsoring your H-1B visa status.
