Legal Question in Immigration Law in California
Verbal Contract was breached, what can I do?
My husband was recently contacted and verbally recruited by Boyd Coddington in California. After flying down at Boyd's request for an interview, he requested my husband return for a period of three months to work in the states (my husband is from Canada). Boyd requested he bring tools, offered to provide a car, and assist in locating appropriate housing.
My husband was informed Boyd would take care of all necessary paperwork and my husband had nothing to worry about. Two days prior to leaving for California, the employer was contacted and there was no mention of any problems.
So again off my husband goes, after taking a leave of absence from his current job, shipping his tools, traveling over 8000 miles only to arrive and be informed the paperwork had not been filed.
There was no indication at anytime from Boyd that anything was wrong. He totally misrepresented his intentions knowing he had not filed any paperwork. This was made very apparent when his bookkeeper stated, she wished she was informed when he tries to do stuff like this (not the exact quote), when my husband approached her as instructed by the shop supervisor to provide her with the information she required to put him on payroll and to work.
