Legal Question in Immigration Law in California
Will I recieve difficulty getting a J1 visa?
I went to school based upon a F1 visa in the US last year and while I was there got into a relationship where eventually a restraining order was filed (against me) and I had to appear for the city attorney for a misdemeanor battery. No charges were filed and I have proof of the city attorney the accusations were false(I was taken in but was NOT arrested and have proof of that too from the police), but I now want to apply for a J1 visa. Will I recieve any problems while doing this? I have never overstayed and have no criminal record, but was wondering if I would experience trouble obtaining a new visa?

You need better guidance than a simple answer online. To know your entire situation, more must be known, not just about the criminal issues, but also possible limitations on your future stays in the U.S. on account of having a J-1. This status has peculiarities such as a required two year foreign residence requirement in some issues. Also, there could be other qualifications issues or admissibility issues as well not mentioned in your email that require more information to properly analyze.
