Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

work permit

I came to USA as J1 visa holder. My visa will expired october 2003.I left the agency and have been here 1 year. I can't work and go back home , because I can't go back to USA then.I have a business at home which is Slovakia and my question is:

Can I get a work permit or green card If my friend American who has his own business,hire me as his employ?

Or can I start my own business here and aplly for green card?

Or is there any solution to get a work permit or green card.

With J1 you have a residency requirement...which can be waived sometimes...you need to talk to an immigration lawyer...who can give you all the options.
