Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

working for companies under F-1 Visa status

I am an international student who has established an internet company that does web-designing/ multimedia presentation back in Korea. I have been contacted by some companies/ individuals that were interested in my service here in southern California. Does my stay in the states have influence in working with these companies? If it does, I would like to know if there is any other way to resolve it.

Thank you in advance for your effort and knowledge.

Re: working for companies under F-1 Visa status

You may have to change your F-1 status of that of an E status/visa (treaty investor/trader)

Assuming that you are South Korean, ROK has mutual trade treaty with the US that confers E1/E2 visa status.

You have to prove:

1) you are a citizen of a treaty country, i.e. ROK

2) you are here to invest or engage in trade btw ROK and US.

You can either apply for change of status in the US or obtain an E visa from the US consulate in Seoul.
