Legal Question in Insurance Law in California
On 3/8/10 was verbally told our medical insurance was cancelled 1/31/10. Never received any written notification. Authorized surgery on 3/4/10. Cal-Cobra is still billing us, we are sill paying, and our last statement says that we are currently covered thru 4/30/10. Our Cal-Cobra runs out 5/1/11. Seems the out of state employer merged with their parent company and changed to an insurance carrier that does not work with Cal-Cobra. We need to be covered now...What is our legal recourse?

I'm sorry you're having this trouble. If I were handling the matter, I would write the parent company on my letterhead demanding that they cover your surgery, and I would follow it up with a federal lawsuit.
