Legal Question in Insurance Law in California
auto-accident liability
I carry liability auto insuarance which covers only liability to another vehicle in case of an accident. If I have a passanger, is there any way I can release myself of any liability to that person, since they would not be covered by my insurance? Could I have them sign some waiver of responsibility? What is the easist way to do this and do I need a lawyer?
Thank you for for help,

Re: auto-accident liability
This doesn't sound right, as the minimum legal liability insurance requirement covers both liability for personal injuries and property damage. Otherwise you are driving uninsured.

Your auto liability policy will cover any passengers if you are at fault in an accident. You need to read your policy and have your agent explain it to you. I have an explanation at my blog, www.calpiblog.com, which you may want to read as well.
