Legal Question in Insurance Law in California
I have a bad faith claim against my auto insurer, but it's not about coverage denial. My neighbor filed a fraudulent claim and not only did my insurer not investigate the claim before paying it out - they paid about 4 times what the car was worth and it was an empty parked car, so no injuries, and they still let him keep the "salvage". I know I need to report the fraud to the DOI and report my insurer too, but should I do that before contacting an attorney about a suit, or wait until after I find an attorney?
