Generally your car insurance will pay for property damage and injury to other persons. Your coverage most likely does not cover your health care costs. You may however file a lawsuit in the event that the hydroplane and crash was caused by another party's negligence. For example, depending upon what road you were traveling, you may have a claim against the city/county or state DOT for improperly maintaining the roadway/failure to warn. Either way you should have an attorney review the facts of your case asap as you may be dealing with a short statute of limitations issue. If you would like to discuss this with me, please feel free to contact me --I will be in the office this afternoon.
