Legal Question in Insurance Law in California
if the car is in my name but I've given it to another person to insure and drive it and that person gets in to accident is the owner liable? I only financed it for a friend.

Yes. Unless you are a licensed rent-a-car company, the registered owner of a vehicle is liable for any accident caused by any driver they permit to use the vehicle.
