Why would a company want an employee to admit fault in an automobile accident?
I was recently in an automobile accident at work. It was on a rainy day, and my work vehicle hydroplaned through a red light, hitting another vehicle. CHP responded to the scene. A witness testified that he had witnessed me trying to stop. I was not sited by the CHP. Upon reporting the accident to my company, I was surprized that their response was hand me a displinary letter, that stated that it had been determined that the was my fault. I refused to sign this letter, but I am puzzled by their insistance that I do so. How would my admitting fault benifit the company?

I suspect they are just asking you to sign to the fact that you recieved the letter, not signing to admit fault.
