What does ''dated at'' mean on the signature line of a contract?

Re: Contract signature line
If it says "Signed and dated at", then you are supposed to write the city and state in which you did these things. If the contract says something else, I would want to see it before I could say what this language means.
It could just be a typo where the author intended to say only "dated", which would call for you to write the date on which you signed the contract. Don't presume that this is the case; such a typo would usually be pretty obvious, and the fact that you needed to ask us suggests that what's going on here isn't obvious at all.

It usually means the location (city and state) where it was signed and dated.
