Legal Question in Insurance Law in California
Dead beat claims agent
On May 22 of this year I was in a parking lot
accident. I was driving down the aisle when the other driver backed-out of a stall without looking and hit me. I have the minimum insurance coverage required by law. I checked with my insurance company, and then contacted the other driver's insurance agency, Civil Service Employees Insurance Group (CSE). I got the claim number and called the adjuster, who said he'd be investigating the claim. By mid-June I started to wonder why I'd heard nothing back, so I called and left him several messages, all of which were unreturned. It's now July, and receiving no call back from the agent, I feel he is avoiding me in order to not have to deal with the claim. What do I do? Would the Better Business Bureau be appropriate, or is this a possible small claims court case?

Re: Dead beat claims agent
You should file a lawsuit against the other driver and the owner of the other car. If the insurance company is not responding to your claim you can also contact the Office of the Insurance Commissioner.
