Legal Question in Insurance Law in California

Dog hit by car - insurance requesting car damages

My dog was struck by a vehicle while I was on vacation. The dog survived with muliple injuries. The vehicle owners insurance wants us to pay for the drivers vehicle damages. We were not home and believe the dog was let out by the gardner. The dog was in the care of a dog sitter staying at our home. Are we at fault for his damages even though we were not here? Do we stand a chance against an insurance carrier?

You might not be responsible, but again you might. This needs to be turned in to your homeowner's insurer immediately. They will do the proper investigation and handle matters. Do not delay, and do this with an initial call to your agent and ask who you need to call at the insurer.

We would need more facts, but from the information given, you definitely can prevail here and countersue for injuries sustained to your dog if the vehicle owner was at fault. For a free phone consultation, contact us directly today.
