Legal Question in Insurance Law in California
A friend had recently cancelled her home insurance to switch companies. However, there was an open claim on the account when she closed it, the claim was evaluated and over with but the insurer never closed the claim. The claim is now closed but because of the policies of new insurers they will not insure this person for 36 months because there was an open claim when she cancelled. The bank involved in her mortgage is not being very helpful and is pressuring her that she must have the house insured. The former insurer is refusing to take her back as a client, what can she do? Does she have any recourse against the former insurance company?
