Legal Question in Insurance Law in California
Homeowner insurance cancellation
Recently had our homeowners insurance cancelled due to a ''credit report.'' This after two years with the same company and our credit is stronger now than it was when they took us on. I've asked for an explanation but I'm sure it will not give us the real reason. What is the companies point in doing this?

Re: Homeowner insurance cancellation
You probably inquired about coverage for a possible claim, or you had a claim. Do you really man cancellation - which is ending a policy before it expires - or nonrenewal after expiration? Cancellation has statutory requirements limiting the reasons for such act, nonrenewal can be very different.
If you tell me more details I can be more specific.
Re: Homeowner insurance cancellation
First, file a complaint with Department of Insurance (www.insurance.ca.gov) and ask them to investigate.
Second, buy another coverage from another carrier before something happens. You might have a case against your carrier if the purpose behind the cancellation is illegal. Good luck.
