Legal Question in Insurance Law in California
Homeowner's Liability Insurance
Thank you for reading this message.
I have AAA Homeowner's Insurance. Currently, I have a claim put against me. Does AAA have to notify me when the claim is settled? My liability adjuster has been completely hostile to me and has indicated by saying ''You called me'' and other words that she does NOT want me to call her.
When liability claims are settled, if the policy owners are notified, what information are they given.
This claim has had a lot of problems from the start (several of them unfortunately my fault for one reason or another), but this is the first home I've been tried to buy and there have also been several disagreements between what the claimant has told me about AAA's letters to him and what the liability adjuster has told me about AAA's letters to him.
Thank you for any information that you can give to me.

Re: Homeowner's Liability Insurance
Write - not call - the adjuster a letter and tell him that you want a copy of all correspondence between the insurer and the claimant. Then you will see what has been going on, and if anything is in error, you can write and correct it.
As long as the insurer is acknowledging coverage, it has the right to handle and settle the claim as it sees fit, provided it does not harm you in any way.

Call them and ask for a copy of all letters sent out. If you still don't get help, file a complaint with the Dept. of Insurance.
