Legal Question in Insurance Law in California
insurance co suggests I get an attorney
I was in a car accident in which my insurance co says I am at fault (other guy ran a red and we hit). My policy only covers $5000 for the damages to the other driver. They determined that the other person's damages are over $5000. They wrote that I ''may'' want to get an attorney. What would be the benefit of hiring an attorney versus settling it by ourselves.

your own attorney can pressure the insurance company to settle for the $5000 if they can.
