Legal Question in Insurance Law in California

I was involved in a hit and run accident in California. I was rear ended and side swiped while driving and was unable to get the license plate number of the driver. My uninsured motorist coverage is paying for bodily injury but not for property damage since I was unable to get the driver's license plate number. Why can my coverage be used to pay for injuries and not damage to my vehicle?

I doubt if the reason for nonpayment is no license number, it is probably because you did not purchase the uim property damage coverage. That is a separate coverage from the uim injury coverage. But don't you have collision coverage, then only your deductible would apply.
