Legal Question in Insurance Law in California
Liability for helping a neighbor
My house was damaged in a windstorm by a neighbor's patio structure. Their insurance is calling it Act of God, and will not cover our damages (Act of God makes it a no-fault accident). The insurance company also told my neighbors that if they (the neighbors) offered to help us financially they would be claiming responsibility and could be sued by us. Is this true?

Re: Liability for helping a neighbor
An offer to help isn't an admission of fault, so that part is wrong. Without more, the carrier is probably right on its "Act of God" position on coverage.
