Legal Question in Insurance Law in California
Life Insurance fraudulently purchased
Is it legal for a person to purchase life insurance on another person's life when they are engaged to be married in California? After breaking up with my fiance I later discovered he had taken out a policy without my consent or knowledge. What should I do?

Re: Life Insurance fraudulently purchased
Calif. has a new law (Ins. Code section 10110.3, which requires a spouse to be notified about the other spouse taking out a life policy. It is doubtful he had an insurable interest in your life, which is also defined in the code (Sec. 10110) and if not, it is void (Sec. 286.) You could write the company and see what happens.
