Legal Question in Insurance Law in California
Minor Collision
Recently driving nearby, made left turn onto busy street, collided with a vehicle which was stopped. He pulled to the curb, we checked the damages; he gestured as if
Forget it, drove off not exchanging info. I followed him, got part of license #,remember only make of his car; contacted my insurance co-driving a rental car, and don't own a car, have Non-Owner policy; also, I had waived rentor's collision a few weeks ago. Got an estimate, which was under amount specified by the DMV for reporting. My insurance agent recommended contacting rental agency, explaining situation, that I'm liable for damages; also, the agency likely has own body shop choice. I have two questions: 1.) If the rentor's repairs are much more costly than estimate that I found, what is my recourse? and 2.) As this was an unfortunate accident, can agency refuse to rent to me (nothing else has happened, vehicle already has few nicks and dents). Thank you.

Re: Minor Collision
Your own policy may cover the car damage, as it is not your vehicle, or it may have a collision coverage for vehicles you drive.
The rental agency has the right to choose to rent to you or not. If you are a regular customer, talk to the manager.
