Legal Question in Insurance Law in California

My neighbor just gave us a bill for his roof repair $1500. He says our redwood tree had a branch fall off on to his roof. His house was built too close to the property line and is out of normal set back limits. The tree was most likely there when his house was built. It happened during a big storm. We live in a redwood forrest. In Santa Cruz mountains. Should we pay this?

You probably have homeowners insurance on your house so turn his claim over to your insurance company and let them run it through their legal department and decide what to do.
