Legal Question in Insurance Law in California
I rented my car to someone off craigslist (under a written agreement) and he rear-ended somebody, who got a lawyer and is now claiming injuries. I don't know the amount or type.
After the incident however, the "client" is unreachable, and I couldn't get any details from him and talk to him again. Problem is, my insurance company needed to get his statement, but he is unreachable. Of course, they do not know about the rental agreement, which might be against the insurance policy agreement.
My insurance company now wants me to go and give a "statement under oath".... so I need advice on how to handle this. I have no idea of the extent of the "damages." Damage to my car was minimum--a broken headlight and a bent fender.
