Legal Question in Insurance Law in California
If have two separate rentals on the same parcel i.e. a main house and a separate inlaw cottage. Can I choose to get different insurance providers for the landlord insurance? Or am I required to use only one insurance company for both rentals since they are on the same tax parcel?

This is not a legal question. It is up to the insurance carriers whether they will insure the structures under two separate policies. Personally I doubt they will, but there is no legal requirement or prohibition
