Legal Question in Insurance Law in California

Understanding my auto insurance

I have have full coverage insurance. My car was stolen and wrecked. Insurance company says that theft is not covered.Although my contract does not say that theft is included it does not say that theft is excluded. I thought that the purpose of full coverage was so that no matter what happened I would be covered. I want to know do I have a case?

The typical auto insurance policy covers collision and liability. Collision typically includes theft; a pure liability policy does not. Contact the agent who sold you your policy for an explanation, request what is called a declination letter from the carrier (in others, have them put their position in writing) and contact a local attorney.

Check your policy for a coverage called "Comprehensive/Collision," if it is there, then you are covered.

Or, have your attorney review the policy. If you do not have an attorney, call us and we'll help you (323)782-0099.

You have to read the policy carefully. If you have full coverage including collision and comprehensive coverage you should be covered. Have an attorney read the policy and give you an opinion. If the insurance company in denying coverage, make sure you tell them you want it in writing that they are denying the claim.

Re: Understanding my auto insurance

There is no such legal term as full coverage. You need to read the policy to see what is covered.
