Legal Question in Insurance Law in California
uninsured and not at fault
I was involved in an accident that was not my fault (I have a witness) and didn't know my insurance had lapsed. My witness was out of town for several months so the claims adjuster assigned to the case wasn't able to get in touch with him. Meanwhile they sent me to a collection agency who contacted me and told me that in the state of California whether it was your fault or not if you whichever party that doesn't have insurance is held liable for the damages. Is this true? What rights do I have?

Re: uninsured and not at fault
No, that is not true. Contact a local attorney to determine how to deal with these companies.
Good luck.
