USAA Home Owners Cancell

My husnabd is Active duty Marine Corp we purchased a home Dec 2006 and purchased USAA for home and cars. Jan 01 2008 my husband was deployed and my house was robbed I filed a claim. April 01 2008 refigerator was leaking causing mold they had to rip out two rooms of our house, it took 6 months to complete and 70,000 later but I received a letter today saying they are cancelling our coverage because we are a liablity . Can they do this?

It's one thing to cancel; it's another that it chose not to renew, which is their right. I suspect it's the latter. I also suspect that they paid your 1/1/08 claim. If they did not, you should speak to an attorney immediately.

Is the policy being terminated before it would normally expire? That is a cancellation. Otherwise it is a nonrenwal notice, required to be sent over a month before the end of the policy term.

Generally no homeowner policy is required to be renewed, but there are some exceptions as I have some experience with this specific issue against Hartford.

Are all of your claims fully completed, paid in full to your satisfaction or are any still open? And did you receive a separate notice regarding your auto policy, which is a separate coverage?
