Legal Question in Intellectual Property in California
I want to build a web site that allows medical marijuana farmers to obtain reimbursement for their product. Both the farmers and the reimbursors will be required to become members of a non-profit association compliant with SB420 and the California Attorney General's guidelines before conducting any transactions. The web site will maintain membership records, including a physical copy of each doctor's recommendation. Is it legal for the farmers to conduct paypal or credit card transactions? The site will prohibit delivery by mail. Exchange of the product will be required to be by delivery or pickup. What legal issues am I going to face? If I am in compliance with California Law, is the federal government going to have any problems, given that Obama said he would leave state legal coops alone?

Bad idea to put any of these materials online. Aside from the federal issues -- people can be and still are getting arrested and prosecuted by the feds, starting with the low hanging fruit -- you have HIPAA compliance and other expensive and difficult security issues if you were to store medical information on your server.
